Ulta haul - Smashbox, Bare Escentuals, and Amazing Cosmetics

I had a splurge lately. Ulta sent me a 20% off entire purchase coupon the other day. Normally Ulta's coupon excludes a number of "prestige" brands (such as Smash Box, Bare Essentuals, Urban Decay etc..) and fragrances.

So this is quite a rare incident. And lately I am looking desperately for a good foundation fit for my combination NC-30 skintone (and I call myself a "milk chocolate" skin color). I know that Fuz has raved about Lunasol's new water gel foundation but it's quite a risk to buy foundation that will match my skintype and it's not that affordable either. So I stay local and try brands that are available here in the US.

I thought the Smash Box Complexion Kit box set in "Light" was a good deal. I bought it because I wanted to make use of the 20% off coupon. At that time there weren't testers around but I went back at another time and testers were set up. The mineral powder foundation, which is the main thing I want to try in the set, was a tad too yellow for my skin. So I just returned the set later :(

I have also picked up the Bare Escentuals mineral foundation "matte." Knowing warm weather is around the corner, I would like something that can matify my oily t-zones in the summer. Will review it a bit on its matifying properties later^^

The most amazing deal I got was the Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer. Michelle Phan has been using this product in her earlier videos and I have been wanting to try it out. This concealer comes in 2 sizes, $28 for the travel size 0.2 oz one or $42 for the full size 0.5oz one. On that day that I stopped by Ulta, they are running a special, 50% off for all full size Amazing Concealer. That's even cheaper than the travel size! On top of that, there is an additional 20% off with my coupon. The grand total is $16.8 for a full size Amazing Concealer!! How "amazing" is that?

I got mine in "Light Golden" and I am looking forward to try it once I  finished using my Laura Mercier duo concealer. I am so excited because it's something that Michelle Phan uses and it gotta be good!

I heard about Amazing Cosmetics Concealer too.. please update soon.

I always heard about the returning items to Sephora or Kiehls, is it a policy there? It is not available in Sephora Singapore (I think)

The other thing I like about the US is the free return policy :) It's harder to return any items even it's unused in Asia in general, I think...

Yes indeed, I think Asian here (maybe) would abuse the system ;p.

well, to be honest, the majority of people that abuse the system here are Asians...

And in particular, the store clerks arent the smartest people here... like for example, I will return something from a previous purchase that I got 20% off the entire order. They will sometimes refund me the full amount... and that means I make 20% out of returning... and don't ask me why, it happens a lot here...
