Review Of Hitachi Hada CRiE CM-N1000 – Japan’s No. 1 Beauty Gadget

The Ultimate Facial Massager “ Hada Crie” by Hitachi

This latest version of facial massager by Hitachi has put the competitors to rest.
The “Hada Crie” is a facial cleaning and massage system that will change and improve the way you take care of your face. This hand held cleaning and massage head performs better than ordinary manual cleaning methods. With ion power, it cleans deeply into pores to remove more dirt and penetrate moisturizing ingredient to horny layer and helps to keep moisture. “ Hada Crie” has 4 different modes which are Cleanse, Micro-pat, Moisturize and cooling.

The above is a description I found online for the Hada CRiE machine.  It is “Japan’s No.1 beauty gadget” for a reason! It is so amazing that I have written this long and in-depth review about it.

So roughly 2 weeks ago, a small package from Japan:

And here's my loot, the ultimate beauty gadget of the time:

Back of the box:

And such beauty gadget does not come cheap. Retailing for 357,00yen in Japan, I found a cheaper option for about US$230 on Ebay. I bought mine for about $190usd shipped from Japan via a Japanese CP :)

But a $200 investment on a beauty gadget is really on the steep side, however, it's a machine that is "Made in Japan" (see above image on the lower right corner) so it's well worth the investment. To justify my purchase, I'd figure visiting a facial spa twice can be over this amount (and that's the reason why I never visit facial spas here... economically it's not sustainable for my wallet!) so this seems to be a nice alternative to DIY facials at home!

Contents within the box includes the machine itself, cable cord, 2 plastic rings, instruction manual and a quick instruction card:

My favorite beauty gadget still in its brand new condition, love, love, SUPER LOVE <3

Though the manual is in Japanese, it is quite easy to follow along with the step to step pictures:

Front and back of the quick instruction card (please click on image if you want to see an enlarged image of the instruction card):

As some of you may not understand what the manual is talking about, I have found an English and Chinese manual online. The only difference the 4th step, where CM-N1000 has a "Cool Este Mode" rather than CM N-810's "Refresh Mode":

The model I have decided to pull the trigger on is the CM-N1000 model. The main difference between the popular models CM-N800 or CM-N810 model is the 4th mode is "refresh mode" on the CM-N810 model and "cool esthetic mode" on the N-1000 model, as well as the CM-N1000 come corded (meaning the unit needs to be connected to the plug with the cable during operation) while the 810's model come wireless with a charger (each charge will hold enough charge for 10 uses). Another major difference is CM-N1000 uses a 100V but CM-N810 is pretty much universal voltage of 100V-240V. CM-N1000 is a tad heavier (100g) because of a bigger motor for the cooling function, but the cooling function enables the minimizing of pore sizes, I just went ahead for this option!

For those who are interested, there is a chart in Japanese for the difference between CM-N1000 and CM-N810:

Below the blue sticker is where the metal part which holds the most important function of the Hitachi Hada CRiE machine, ion induction:

The bunch of Japanese words, from top to bottom:
クレンジングモード: Cleansing Mode
ミクロパットモード: Micro-Pat Mode
モイストアップモード: Moisturize Mode
クールエステモード: Cool Esthetic Mode

LED lights will light up depending on which mode you select. For the 3 buttons below:
入/切: this is the on/off button to power the unit.
モード: Mode, this button is to navigate between the 4 modes within the system.
強/弱: Strong/weak intensity to be used within the cleansing mode and moisturize mode.

Sides of the Hitachi Hada CRiE, with a metal part on each side. You are supposed to touch both metal parts (along with you're not supposed to wear any jewelry during the operation of this unit) so positive/negative ions can be circulated within the body:

Back of the unit indicated its serial number, along it is produced in year 2012. "Made in Japan" is also written back there, which ensures quality... as it's quite common to find electronics made in China or SE Asia countries. One thing worth mentioning is that the unit works on 100V only (Japan's domestic voltage) but it doesn't really bother me because I will be using my Hada CRiE in the US mainly.

[Thoughts after my first few uses]

  • It can overwhelming initially, especially with the 4 modes along with the combination of strong and weak mode, AND also what kind of products to use in conjunction with the different modes.... but after a week of continuous usage, I have figured out how to master the Hitachi Hada CRiE to incorporate into my daily skincare routine and make the best out of it.
  • Cleansing, micro-pat, and moisturizing mode are programmed for 5 minutes and stops automatically when completed. Cooling Este mode is programmed for 3 minutes. The entire process will take 18 minutes for all 4 modes. 18 minutes is a nice relax break from a long day working!
  • Unlike the CM-N810 model that has rechargeable battery and no cords, it means I cannot use  my Hitachi Hada CRiE CM-N1000 everywhere. I need to be near to a power outlet during the treatment
  • Extra things you will need in conjunction with the Hitachi Hada CRiE are cotton pads, a non gel-based watery toner, essence, and perhaps a selection of sheet mask (prefer cheaper sheet masks like My Beauty Diary) and the above materials are easily available and not hard to find at all.
  • The Hitachi Hada CRiE can be used all over my face just like how you will use the clarisonic, in the slow outwards motions from center of the face. I think the size of the metal head is just the right size the contact between the metal head and my face is great.
  • The Hitachi Hada CRiE has built-in sensor on the metal pad so if you’re not gripping onto the unit properly (ie, the metal parts along the side, or left the machine idle for a few seconds), it will not work and it will stop when the head is not touching skin.  In that case I know if the unit is working properly on my face.
  • I remove all make-up with cleansing oil and cleanse my face along with my Clarisonic pro brush before using Hitachi Hada CRiE – and the result samazes me even more when I discover that my normal cleansing routine with Clarisonic brush are totally inadequate at removing all traces of makeup residue and dirt!

Other products I have used along with the Hitachi Hada CRiE:

Summary of the 4 modes:
Cleansing mode : designed for daily use, once a day, with  in cleansing water or toner soaked off with a clean piece of cotton pad, personally I use Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA liquid with salicylic acid

And for cotton pads, I use Naruko white illuminating cotton pads that has a knitted texture surface for minor exfoliating over my face

Cotton pad position in place with the plastic ring locking the pad in place. The unit also comes with an extra replacement ring (I just hope they don't break easily or I will have a hard time finding out where to get them!) The Naruko cotton pads are a tad too thick for this purpose and I have to yet find a thinner cotton pad for this purpose:

Saturating the positioned cotton pads with Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA liquid with salicylic acid:

Cleansing mode (weak) in action, cotton pad is fully saturated:

Micro-Pat mode : designed for daily use without cotton pad, after face spray toner on face in order to keep it wet and moist to avoid dry burns, personally I like to use SANA Hadanomy Collagen Mist or Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moist Mist

Moisturize mode : designed for daily use, along with a clean piece of cotton pad soaked in a moisturizing non gel-based toner, personally I use it with SK-II Facial Treatment Essence and the absorption is phenomenal!

Because this SK-II Facial Treatment Essence does not necessarily comes cheap, I chose a thinner cotton pad I have at home and it's also smoother so it's easier to glide over my face. Moisturizing mode in action:

Cooling Esthetic mode : designed for daily use, when this mode is turned on, the metal piece becomes ice cold and it's supposed to shrink pore sizes (around nose area) with continuous use. And it will be an excellent cooling device in hot summer months too! I normally use this mode after I pat on moisturizer, the final step of my nightly skincare routine.

[Small note: for both the cleansing and moisturizing modes I notice the cotton pads are starting to feel a tad dry after the 3rd minute. When the cotton pads becomes dry, it is increasingly difficult to glide the machine around my face.]

[How dirty is my face?]

I didn't know my face is that dirty.... and given that I cleanse my face with Clarisonic pro in the shower daily.... beware of some disgusting dirty cotton pads below!

Left-most: a brand new clean piece of cotton pad
Middle: normal manual toning with Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA liquid with salicylic acid after regular cleansing with Clarionsic pro
Right-most: Cleansing mode with Hitachi Hada CRiE along with Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA liquid with salicylic acid

GROSS!!!! See how much dirt junk it is hiding inside my pores.... manually cleaning, even with Clarisonic is not that effective! And no wonder I still have breakouts from time to time!

[Highlights of Hitachi Hada Crie]
  • Despite instructions online and in the manual for this CM-N1000 model is all in Japanese, you can refer to the manual of CM-N810. I love the function that it knows when the metal part is not touching my skin and it was stops or resume depending on the contact.
  • Using Hitachi Hada CRiE I was able to see how much dirt and grime was captured in the used cotton pads (see above image) It is quite disgusting but at least you know the dirt is on the cotton pad that you are planning to throw away, but not on your face!
  • I hate how sometimes cleaning with the clarisonic made my skin felt it was being over-exfoliated or the very tight and taut (dry) feeling on your face – The cleansing mode effectively pulled dirt out from your face, minus the abrasive effects of the clarisonic. The latter steps allow you to moisturize is a plus too, I love how clean and balanced it can be!
  • Since using my Hitachi Hada CRiE, the possiblity of breakouts (even hormonal) reduced,  and sometimes with breakouts I used anti-acne products that can be too drying, but this machine keep the dry areas moisturized. When using my Creme de La Mer prior to using Hitachi Hada CRiE, the cream is a tad heavy and my skin tends to be a little greasy. With Hitachi Hada CRiE I notice using Creme de La Mer is no longer greasy on me, a good indication that my skin is absorbing the good stuff. Appearance of fine lines and pore sizes are gradually improving!
  •  I wish it has the refresh mode as well. But I figure out I can use my HABA ion machine for that purpose and that is exactly why I didn't opt in for the CM-N810 model. But the light weight and wireless ability is really tempting!
  •  THIS HAS ALREADY BECOME MY HOLY GRAIL! I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ALL!

[UPDATE]

After 15 days of continuous use (about half a month), these used cotton pads reflect the results:

Yeah, I know it's kind of disgusting to collect all these used cotton pads.... but for the sake of documenting the effectiveness of this device, I have collected these for a while.... and if you look closely, day 1 is particularly dirtier (and it's my first use afterall).... while I do not expect my used cotton pads will look purely white overtime, after all my face does produce greasy and dirt from the atmosphere will keep coming to clog my pores, I notice the bottom row is definitely "less dirty" (not as gray) than the top row.

Bravo! Let the quest for a healthier clog-free skincare routine begins!

This sounds like an amazing gadget! Would you stop using your Clarisonic because this is so effective?

Cutie Fishball said...

@Beauty Box! Honored to have you here!!

I have been using my clarisonic less and less, especially over the winter where the dryness from the indoor heating really makes my skin so tight and uncomfortable... and I think the brush head is too abrasive somehow. But on days I wear makeup, I still use clarisonic, but not the full cycle, i just brush over the t-zone and jaw line to remove traces of makeup that will potentially clogged pores...

not that I will stop using it completely, but I will use it selectively :)

Hitachi Hada Crie is truely amazing.... I can't believe the amount of dirt on my face!!!!

oh god!
seems cool, but I'm scared about all these gadgets :(

was it difficult to find and buy this one?

Maria said...

oops, already found it on ebay.
uffff...the price is not that low :(

Cutie Fishball said...

@Maria-

They are readily available on ebay, but I paid a bit lower than that because I know of someone from Japan can send this cool gadget to me!

The idea of this gadget sounds scary in the beginning, but when you notice a great difference after using it, I am now addicted!

a great review on this product! Do you find yourself using less products because you face drinks up the product a lot better? I might just pick this baby up before I leave for Japan.. if it's multi-voltage.. It's going for about 9000yen which is a pretty good deal considering the clarisonic is a lot more expensive!

Anonymous said...

leave for Japan? LOL I mean Leave Japan haha

Cutie Fishball said...

Wow 9000 yen?? I should have asked u for CP... You always seem to find amazing deals!! Only if I know u earlier.... But maybe after you return to jp there are new gadgets coming out n then I will bug you again!!

I was actually considering the rechargeable cordless model before and it took a while before I finally decide...

After using this gadget I find moisturizers that where once too thick for this season are better absorb ie I don't feel a layer of grease on my face after I wake up.

I still use my clarisonic but only on days I had make up on as I don't want too much abrasion action going on.

Maybe we can do a swap for gadgets as clarisonic are cheaper here will often 20% sale!! (making it less than 9000 yen for the mia model n a bit more for the pro model) But that can be discussed later!!

WOW!!!! This seems so amazing!! Thank you for the indepth review. I don't think I will be able to use it even if I bought it though since the voltage thing is an issue...over here in the UK we are on 240V I think...*big sigh*. I am so shocked that even after clarisonic you were still able to get so much grime off...

I have a clarisonic plus and I am even too lazy to use that. *slaps wrist* better get it out and use it before even thinking about something else xD Hahaha...

Cutie Fishball said...

@Jian- Thanks for stopping by!! I think you can go for the CM N-810 model which is a dual voltage model that works for 100-240V, so you will be able to use in UK too!!

Clarisonic is nice to clean out makeup residue but I feel sometimes the cleansing action is too abrasive, particularly in the winter times when my skin is drier and tighter... so the Hada Crie machine is a gentler way to cleanse!

PinkOrchids said...

Thanks for such a great review! It sounds amazing and the result looks amazing!! It's a big investment but it looks like it is well worth it! I have the clarasonic which is about the same price i think, but i don't know if it really works on my skin, atleast with this one the results are visible!!

Cutie Fishball said...

@Pink Orchids-
Thanks for stopping by! Yes Clarisonic is about the same price, but I cannot stressed enough that clarisonic can be a bit abrasive on skin sometimes, and this Hada Crie machine is much gentler! I highly recommend for a thorough cleaning!

(and thank you for bearing with dirty cotton pads here!

Ashley said...

I have been looking for an in-depth review of the Hitachi Hada Crie and I've finally found one! Thank you so much for writing about this!
This would be a very expensive purchase and I'm still contemplating if I should buy one. I already have the Clarisonic and LOVE it but it's a lifetime investment too because the brush heads need to be replaced every 3 months... But which is worse: buying truck loads of cotton pads each month & using up toner/essence far quicker than normal or sticking with the Clarisonic? Ahh... Decisions, decisions!

Cutie Fishball said...

@Ashley- Thanks for stopping by! Yes this is definitely going to be a great investment (coming from someone that already has clarisonic plus) and I find myself using less and less clarisonic because I tend to find it quite abrasive to my skin while hitachi hada crie is very gentle. The end result is a smoother skin less prone to clogged pores and break outs!

Another economic way is to get a lower end model with less function...

I hope my reviews help!

Nalin said...

Hey, I just bought this beauty gadget and loving it!
I'm just wondering, can I use the sheet mask with the moisturising mode?

Cheers

Cutie Fishball said...

@Nalin! Welcome to my blog! I am glad that you made the decision on this investment! It's a nifty little gadget right?

Of course you can use the sheet mask with the moisturizing mode... and when you do, you will notice that sheet mask "dry up" a lot faster than just letting the mask to sit on your face alone.... I usually put on a nice serum before putting on sheet masks (like my beauty dairy) to help in absorption too....

hope this helps...

I have a friend recommend me get Hitachi M-N10000BF the newer version. However, some of my other friend also recommend me get the Clarisonic.
And now I am still deciding which one should i get, since they are almost the same price.
Do you have any recommendation? I don't really put on make up and i also have a really sensitive skin.

Cutie Fishball said...

I just googled and I found that Hitachi M-N10000BF is the HK version of CM-N1000, so all the functions are the same except the buttons and manual are all in English and it has the warranty valid in HK, plus it will have the 220V plug that will be usable in HK.

I would assume Clarisonic is a bit cheaper than Hitachi (depending on which model you pick of course). I like them both but in winter I tend not to use the clarisonic as much as it's quite abrasive... but summer time it's fine! If you do go with the Clarisonic, you can go with the sensitive or delicate brush head.... and they serves different purposes so it's hard to judge whether the clarisonic or the hitachi will serve you better...

Hi! I wanted to ask you a question about this device since I am really interested in it. can I use products that has some viscosity to it like the toners/dew from naruko with the machine? Do all the products used in conjunction with the device have to be watery?

Cutie Fishball said...

@Phuong Nguyen, thank you for stopping by! I think watery based toners worked much better with my experience with the device, as I have tried both more watery kinds and the Naruko toners (that are thicker) and I find the watery toners are better in terms of doing what the machine is supposed to do, eg, getting impurities out of your skin... and it also have to do with the quality of the cotton pads too!

Hello!
COuld you help me do a quick check on the Hz required by the device? I'm planning to buy from Japan but I read that some devices that require 60Hz would not be able to run in Singapore, which provides a 50Hz outlet! (I know it sounds geeky, but honestly, the kind of research we do in the name of beauty)

Thanks love!

Cutie Fishball said...

I just look at my unit and it reads 100-120V, 50-60Hz for input. Mine is the Japanese model but I am using it in the US without any problems (but it's 110V and 60hz here)

Unknown said...

Hi,

Thank you for your detailed review of the device and the step-to-step guide for how and what to use on the machine. I am new to any of these facial devices or face cleansing or moisturizing products, your blog really helps me a lot.

My biggest problems are blackheads and huge pores, I could see from the cotton pads the dirt the device can draw out, how about (very stubborn) blackheads? Also, I see we will need to use a lot more toner than usual for cleaning, so do you have any recommendation on a cheap and good toner in Canada?

Thank you very much and happy new year.

Thanks for giving a very detailed review of the HITACHI Hada CriE! It's amazing to see all the gunk it takes out of your pores isn't it? I didn't know my Clarisonic was doing such a bad job either. I pair my Hada CriE with Bioderma Créaline cleanser and Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Lotion. They're both inexpensive products but when used with this gadget my face looks like it just came out of the spa! I'm going to post my review on this soon =)

Hi cutie , I really want to buy one of this , could you tell me what is the different between the pink one and the white one ? Which one is the best ? Thanks

Anonymous said...

Hello! Thank you for such a detailed review! I'm planning to buy this, but I'm curious how you incorporate your other skincare routine with this machine? LOL I'm a total newbie with these machines. In which step do you put cream/moisturizer on the machine? And you mentioned sheet masks -- so how do you use it with the machine? And lastly, do you still put your daily moisturizer after using the machine? Thank you so much! :)

graclyn said...

Hi!

How did you manage to order the device?
i am interested to get! :)

Cutie Fishball said...

Hi Graclyn-

I ordered my device via a contact I know in JP.... and the Japanese model uses the same voltage as the US voltage (as opposed to those sold in HK, different voltage, you will need an adapter)

@Asiagirlcat-
I will put cream on and then use the 2nd mode (micro pat) and it helps with patting down the moisturizers for better absorption.
For sheet masks, I typically will apply serum before I apply the sheet masks, then I will use the 3rd mode to massage it in....

@Bibillian-
The main difference is the white one comes cordless but the pink one has the cool aesthetic mode that is really nice with reducing pore sizes. I personally prefer the 4th function because it's like sticking a cool ice stick on my face ona hot summer day!

@Eyecandy-
I am curious to try it with the bioderma crealine cleanser too! I will do it after my current cleanser runs out.

@Chopstick-
i think with stubborn blackheads it does takes time... so it is with skincare, results will show when you are patient with sticking to a rountine regime. Toner wise I will recommend Naruko, as they are not really expensive to start with, or if you have access to Japanese skincare in some asian mart, Hado Labo is not a bad choice either! They are quite affordable!

It is hard to find but I recently purchased my CM-N1000 through a store called LesTaiTai that ships worldwide here: http://www.lestaitai.com/UScatalog/index.php?cPath=30

I have stopped using my Clarisonic and only use this now, I find it far more effective and I don't like the brush for cleansing my face anymore.

Cutie Fishball said...

@Stacey, they are hard to find in the US, so online stores are way to go!!!

I, too, have a clarisonic and it has been sitting there for a while now as I don't like how abrasive it is to my skin, the Hitachi Crie is much more gentle on our delicate skin!

Hey Cutiefishball,
wow what an impressive review of this beauty gadget! i'm so tempted reading it , i want to buy too :)

what intrigue me is the use of ion. when you roll hada crie over your face, do you experience any sensation of heat? i wonder if it should generate a decent heat amount for us to know it's actually working?

also, which one is newer, N1000 (yours) or the N810 series?

thanks so much dearly!!

Love
Jarene

Cutie Fishball said...

@Jarene,

I do not experience any heat sensation during the use of ion. but you will notice the "dirty yucky" stuff coming out with the first cleasning mode, and the amount of gunk is more than what you will get from phyiscally wiping your face with toner in cotton pads.... I think it is really drawing impurties out?

my model N1000 is the newer model :)

Anonymous said...

Hiii! Thank you for your reply above :) I was wondering what's the best way to use step 2? I've tried putting toner both on my face and on the device and my skin gets dried up really quickly. Is there a better way? Thank you so much!

Unknown said...

wooow sounds like an amazing gangdet! i was thining of buying the pink one, but how much watt does it need? since my converter thingy can just handle for like 100watt

Cutie Fishball said...

@asiangirlcat-

I also notice that if your use too thick of a cotton, they tend to dry up too quick, so I always use the naruko cotton pads I have and sometimes I even torn them into 2 thinner pieces for 2x use....

@Michha Johanessn-

I just look at my unit and it reads 100-120V, 50-60Hz for input, and 23VA (which I am not sure if that equates to 2300W??) To be safe, you can get the CM-N810 model as it is dual voltage!

Hi there,

Thanks for your detailed review. =))

Before using the cleansing mode, must I wash my face first to remove all makeup?

Can I use the Hada Crie together with the cleansing foam to clean my face?

Or must I always use a cotton pad soaked with toner to thoroughly clean my skin?

Thanks.

Cutie Fishball said...

Hi Kylnn Crealtions-

Yes you have to remove all makeup and cleansed your face prior to using this device.

Imagine you will clean up your face before starting the skincare/toning process.... so do not use this device with cleansing foam... it does not work that way...

the main point of this device is to draw inpurtiies out that cannot be removed by regular cleansing....

hi, I just ordered my hadacrie N1000 on amazon and waiting for it to ship. loved your review, very informative and helped me made the decision to get one. Any suggestions of what waterbased toner to pair this with for the different modes?

Thanks.

Cutie Fishball said...

@emitime, thanks for visiting my blog! Lately I love pairing the hitachi crie machine up with SANA's soya milk toner (before I have been using naruko's toner) and this has been working great! But on days where my skin has break out problems I go back to my Paula's Choice 2% liquid to clear up clogged pores!

Unknown said...

Hi!

Your review is very detail and I'm really interested in buying this gadget. Can you tell me if you notice a big differences in your pores? Did the pores size did shrink as it claim? I'm debating if I should get the N810 or N1000. The portable idea sound good on the N810 but the pore shrinking function also sound good on the N1000. Please let me know if you think step 4 is really working. Thanks!

emitime said...

hi fishball, I just received my hadacrie n1000 today and used it for the first time =D it feels so gd and drew out a lot of dirt from my face. lol. the cooling sensation of the last mode is AMAZING. esp now summer is coming up.
thanks for the suggestion, I have the biotherm biopur pore reducing lotion and the la roche-posay physiogloical micellar solution, going to try it out and perhaps switch to the ones you have mentioned. i have heard gd things about bioderma's lotion as well.

Cutie Fishball said...

@emtime! Thank you for stopping by again! I am glad to hear that the N-1000 model works out for you... it's gross to see so much gunk came out of your face, but actually it's good that it is out of your face! Where did you get your N-1000? From Amazon?

I am curious to use the bioderma makeup remover water and experiment with it for a "deep cleansing" treatment and see if this will clear more gunk out of my pores too! I know bioderma is very gentle and may not be that effective as a makeup remover, but it will be interesting to see!

@Sandy An, yes! my pore size get smaller and more refined... and I notice I didn't have as much break out problems due to clogged pores anymore and it's all due to this device. I choice N-1000 because I know I wouldnt be travelling with this device around (it will be really bad if I damage or lost it when I travel with it, i usually keep it at home to use)

Hi there!

I read your review of this model in depth (and several times lol) when deciding which model of Hada Crie to get.

I finally decided on the newer version of this model, the CM-N2000.

Sadly, it has not reduced the size of pores after close to a month of usage. How long did it take for you before you saw changes?

It also did not draw out much dirt so I was quite sad, especially after seeing yours!

But I will continue using it with a hopeful heart. Fingers crossed!

I did a review of CM-N2000 here and included 2 of your pictures (fully credited and linked back, of course). I hope it's ok... If you're not comfortable with it, please let me know and I will remove them immediately.

Hi!
I recently just bought this machine. I noticed that the machine vibrates in intervals (not a continuous vibration) and in different patterns depending on what mode. Is this normal? If it is, do you only move the machine across your face when it is vibrating, such as when it only vibrates twice in cleansing mode for a couple of seconds per interval .
